Stranger 015

marcie

What’s your full name?

Marcie Lyndell Sun

Were you named after anyone?

Marcie is after my Papa (mom’s father) Marcelino, and Lyndell was a name my Dad liked, which turns out was an high school crush.

What’s your average day like?

My day starts with me turning of the alarm and staying in bed for 15 minutes. On workdays, I get ready, drop off Zoey (eldest daughter) at school, and then to work.  If not, then I lay around reading. Either way, I spend my day with kids that I hope to teach and guide into healthy and happy adults. Evenings are spent eating, relaxing, watching TV.

How far away do you live from where you were born?

Well, I currently live 20 minutes away from where I was born in Santa Clara. But, my elementary years were spent in the Sacramento area, high school years in the east bay, and college years in San Francisco.

What do you consider to be your “home?

When asked, where are you from, I respond California and then SF Bay Area. My home is where ever my husband and kids are located. When we are vacation, the hotel is home.

If you could change something about your appearance, what would it be?

If I could, I would change my lymphedema swollen arm.

What do you first notice in strangers?

Eyes.

What do think people say about you?

People who like me say I’m kind, smart, supportive. People that don’t like me say I’m difficult and opinionated.

What would you hope they would say?

Probably…kind, caring, and thoughtful

What is your proudest moment? Biggest victory?

I’m proud of being a teacher to disenfranchised students.

What is your biggest regret? Biggest failure?

I regret taking so long to figure out my career…but not really because I experienced a lot while figuring it all out.

If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?

I wish I was better at making decisions.

What makes life worth living?

My hubby, my daughters, my family, sunshine, nature, beauty. ..

What is the one rule you try to live by? Do you feel successful at following it?

Trust your instincts. I am not good about it because I’m indecisive and double guess myself.
